Day six started out with brunch at the Kerbey Lane Cafe. This place has famous gingerbread pancakes and sweet potato fries. For those of your that know Maggie, you are likely aware that sweet potato fries are her favorite food, so she was very happy with the restaurant selection. Aunt Bobby joined us for our brunch, and we enjoyed catching up while eating until we could hardly stand up(the reporting of which seems to be taking over this blog).
After brunch, Theresa, Jalen and Bobby led us on a tour of Austin by car (Tice elected for daycare). We stopped off at a fun toy shop where we amused ourselves by trying on various ridiculous sunglasses (see pictures). We went on a search for postcards without much luck. As it is turning out, postcards are harder to find than you'd imagine. When you are NOT looking for them, they are everywhere. When you want one, they are hiding like gold at the end of the freakin' rainbow.
After hanging out at home and playing some video games with the kids, it was time for dinner. We went to have some real Texas BBQ, which is very different from the NC variety. We enjoyed it very much, though Maggie has to admit that eating the beef BBQ made her feel far away from the home of the vinegar-based pork BBQ that she loves so dearly. I cannot believe I just wrote that sentence. This blog is really going downhill fast.
After dinner, we were introduced to the best game ever created. Maggie was stunned that she and Tommy had owned a gaming system for so long without having access to such a game. Guitar Hero, you may be wondering? No. KAREOKE! On the American Idol version you can even take a picture of your face with this iToy thing and then it gets superimposed onto the character while you sing. HILARIOUS! We only wished that David were there to duet on "I've had the time of my life." Tommy actually PLAYED THIS GAME, which was really the best part. I only wish I could post some video on here for you to see how funny the game was to play. Anyhow, this was highly entertaining.
We headed off to bed, ready to wake up early the next morning but sad to say goodbye to Theresa, Bobby, Tice and Jalen. Those boys are so adorable. We enjoyed every minute of our visit! Thanks for hosting, Theresa!

I am so envious--Austin, New Orleans, jazz, Tex-Mex, and real beef bar-b-que--Hawaii will be such a let down!

P.S. Maggie, have you seen my office keys?
