Goodbyes to UH Friends

On my final evening on Oahu, Tommy and I joined my fellow Post-Docs (Brad & Cameo) as well as Cameo's boyfriend Chris for happy hour with free pupus at Indigo. They brought me beautiful leis and we enjoyed several the delicious 3.50 martinis! I have been so fortunate to work with these two individuals this year, both of whom are fantastic people, excellent psychologists, and now close friends. I look forward to many reunions in our future!

More goodbyes with girlfriends!

Some pictures from my good-bye dinner with my dear running friends, Sarah, Summer, and Marlena....and a few photos of my last run with the Fleet Feet Running for Women group. I will miss these women SO MUCH in LA, and they will not be easily replaced. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful group of women to run and share time with during my year in Hawaii. At the end of the night, our Coach Susan presented me with an honorary Fleet Feet racing singlet, which brought tears to my eyes.

Fun times with Andrew

My cousin Kristie's son, Andrew, and his friend from prep school came out to Hawaii during my final week. I thoroughly enjoyed showing them the sights--they are both wonderful young men and were thrilled to be in the Hawaiian sunshine. On Andrew's birthday, we took them surfing at White Plains, and they got to show off all their athleticism! Here are some pictures from our time together...

The Goodbyes Begin

Here are some pictures of the CCBT goodbye party from earlier this month. One of the most fun parts of the party involved entertainment from a dancing dragon group. We all "fed" the dragon dollar bills for luck, and the small children looked on, terrified. There was a lovely spread of food and beautiful leis for those of us departing for California.

Sorry! No pics to update!

This weekend, the Redram Family Computer died. It totally died. We are not sure what happened, though we think a "brown out" on the Windward side may have played a part in the utter demise of our hard drive. Unfortunately, all of our latest pictures were lost since we had not yet backed them up....so we do not have a lot to post for updates right now. We hope to update before our joint adventure in Hawaii comes to a close next Thursday!

For the Love of Lychee

We love lychees. They are the food of the Gods. Tommy has pronounced them to be not only the best fruit, but in fact the best FOOD. They grow in our yard. If you have not eaten a fresh lychee, you are missing out. Unfortunately, lychee trees are hard to come by. When folks realize that we have access to one, they give us a crazed look that implies they may sneak over in the dead of night to steal them.

Behold, the lychee.

I love you, Lychee.

Lychees are like a plum and strawberry in one.

Lychees have interesting insides....

...they look like eyeballs.

You must beware of the pit!

Mother's Day at Roy's

Here are some pictures from our very lovely dinner at Roy's on Mother's Day with Patty and Phil.
