Kailua Beach Park

Here are some pictures of Kailua Beach Park. I finally figured out how to use some old software from another camera to convert my pics to black and white. (Thanks, Phil, by the way for your help with that picture of the old woman! It looks great!)

Pali Lookout: Flowers

Okay, so I am fairly addicted to the macro settings of my new camera. I do love flowers. I could take pictures of just flowers all day. In fact, I think that my two favorite things about Hawaii are having fresh flowers blooming year round and the entire concept of leis. Leis are the best! Its like wearing a bouquet around your neck all day! The one from my birthday smelled amazing, and made me want to work at a hotel or something where I would have to wear a lei every day.

Anyhow, here are plenty of pictures of the unusual flowers at the Pali Lookout. I became completely uninspired trying to write my chapter today and set out for some photo-adventuring before my 5 mile run. That's right! She's back! 25 miles logged so far this week! Woo hoo! I have my first 10k in Hawaii coming up next weekend.

Waikiki

After my run tonight at Waikiki, I wandered around watching the sunset and took some pictures...What do you think?

Taken right as I got out onto the pier, all sweaty from running, but eager to catch the sunset.

If you click on this one, you can see the surfer at the bottom.

The sailboat appeared at the best time!

Big sky.

My old, broken in running shoes.

Hawaiian Boy.

Beautiful woman. I stalked her a bit....I need software to turn this into a black and white photo...

Boy running. You should have seen his rat tail--it was awesome!

Stalking her again.

The next two are meant to show how Waikiki can be completely peaceful and gorgeous if you look in one direction or loud and busy in the other direction. These two photos were taken just by me turning my body 180 degrees.

The Banyan at the Surfrider.

Best night shot so far. I need a tripod!

Sheraton Waikiki

Here are some pictures taken from Maggie's experimentation with her new camera around the Waikiki Sheraton Hotel after the pre-conference dinner (see next post).

Valentines with CAMHD

Tommy and I had a very romantic Valentines Day (ha ha) attending the pre-conference dinner for a polypsychpharmacology conference sponsored by the Dept of Health (and organized by Tommy's office in CAMHD). The speaker for the preconference dinner was Dr. John March, an expert in child psychiatry and pediatric OCD. We were the only folks there who were able to have dinner with their significant others on Valentines...we got lucky since our jobs overlap more and more each week. We are collaborating on several projects, which is pretty fun!

Below are some new pictures taken with Maggie's new camera.

View from the Sheraton Waikiki out to Diamond Head.

Tommy and his co-workers.

Fancy dessert!

Tommy and Maggie. Not the best shot, though taken by someone even less experienced with the camera than me! Notice how Tommy held up the Valentine heart. Nice touch.
