Day 10: Grand Canyon, Arizona

After eating an early breakfast at Earl's Family Restaurant and buying some earrings from the Navajo vendors oustide, we were off!

We arrived at the Grand Canyon in the afternoon and took in the initial view at Mather Point on the South Rim. Really, there are no words. It was simply jaw-dropping. We were happy to find that the Mather Campground was desolate, and we spent the rest of the evening setting up camp and relaxing. We used the hammock that Tommy received as a gift from my Dad and Beth for the first time—it was so perfect! (See pictures of Maggie looking like she is in cocoon.) This being our first visit to the Canyon, we were surprised at the plethora of amenities on the South Rim. We had picked up supplies and such in Flagstaff, but laughed at the fact that the “General Store” located within ¼ mile of our campsite had literally anything you could ever want or need. It’s a little crazy, actually. We hit the sack early to rest up for our 4:30 wake up time for hiking the next morning….
