Happy New Year 2008

Here are some pictures from our wild and crazy Kalihi-Palama New Years Experience. Here in Hawaii, it is tradition to set off enormous amounts of fireworks for New Years Eve. I am talking, ENORMOUS amounts....as in people set off fireworks in their backyards comparable to those we see on the 4th of July at stadiums on the Mainland. It seems somehow illegal. Maybe it is? We were fortunate to be invited to celebrate with our friends' Mike and Marley and their extended family, including many hysterical children who were very involved in the fireworks process.

Tommy, "Striker", and Mike.

Three of the many kids enjoying their sparklers.

The guys and their fireworks.

Two of the cutest little guys. Notice little man on the left giving the shaka sign.

Mike setting off one of the very large strings of scary fireworks.

More kids. More fire.
