Bishop Museum

Lauren, Nick, and Maggie went to the Bishop Museum to learn more about Polynesian culture. Our favorite exhibits were the hula demonstration and the "find your way to Tahiti" tutorial at the planetarium. The major lesson learned--people in ancient Polynesia integrated scary, ghoulish faces into nearly everything....not only masks. Scary ghoulish faces adorned hair combs, doors, weapons, bowls for eating, etc. We decided that there is no way we were meant to live in ancient Polynesia and navigate the Pacific ocean by the stars and trade winds alone.

Scary, ghoulish mask #1
